Enrollment Information for 2010-11 School Year

Age Requirements

California law requires a child to be five years of age on or before December 2 of the school year to be legally eligible for kindergarten and six years old on or before December 2 to be legally eligible for first grade (EC ?48000(a) and EC ?48010). For the 2009-10 school year, kindergarten students must have been born on or before December 2, 2005, and first grade students must have been born on or before December 2, 2004.

Registration Requirements

To have the best chance of receiving an assignment offer to a school of your choice, you must submit an enrollment application by the round one deadline, January 8, 2010.

New students and those who have recently moved will need to provide the following original documents with the enrollment application:

A. Parent/Guardian’s picture ID.

B. Proof of birth to include birth certificate, passport or official hospital record. If the document does not contain the parent/guardian’s name, additional guardianship verification is required.

C. Two (2) proofs of home address that include the name and address of the parent/guardian. Any two (2) of the following original documents dated within the last 45 days need to be provided:

• One to two (1-2) utility bill(s) from different utility agencies such as PG&E, water, cable or scavenger. No cell hone bills will be accepted.
• Both automobile registration and auto insurance (Count as one (1) proof)
• Homeowner’s or renters insurance policy
• Property tax statement
• Official letter from a social service/government agency
• Grant deed, title of property or rental/lease agreement with property owner’s documentation

` Enrollment Fair at Concourse Exhibition Center, 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.

·       Applications become available for the 2010-2011 school year

December 11, 2009

·     Last day to submit an application for Lowell 9th grade

January 8, 2010 [Round 1 Deadline]

  ·     Last day to submit an application for participation in Round 1
March 12, 2010 ·     Mail Round 1 offers to families

March 19-26, 2010

·     Parents/guardians must register students at schools to accept Round 1 offers.

March 26, 2010

[Round 2 Deadline]

·       Last day to submit an application for participation in Round 2

·       Last day  to submit an appeal, waiting pool & or amended application

April 30, 2010

·       Mail Round 2 offers to families

·       Mail any offers available for Round 1 participants who submitted an amended application and/or waiting pool

May 3-14, 2010

·     Parents/guardians must register students at school to accept Round 2 offers

May 14th, 2010

·     Last day to submit an appeal, waiting pool & or amended application for Round 2 Participants.

May 28, 2010

·  Mail offers to Round 2 families who submitted an amended application and/or waiting pool. Mail offers to families who submitted an application form between March 29 - May 28, 2010

June 1, 2010

·  Open enrollment begins
